About Resources for Independent Living

For over 35 years, we've empowered people with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

Our Mission

To promote a philosophy of independent living including consumer control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access, and individual and systems advocacy in order to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence, and productivity of individuals with disabilities, and to maximize their integration and full inclusion into the mainstream of society.

Our Vision

A world where all people with disabilities have equal opportunities to live, work, learn, and participate in their communities; where barriers are eliminated; and where the contributions of people with disabilities are valued and celebrated.

Our Core Values

People with disabilities lead our organization and guide all programs and services.

Peer Support

We believe in the power of shared experience and mutual support among people with disabilities.

Every individual has the right to make their own choices and direct their own life.
